What is mechatronics?

Mechatronics is a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary technical science based on three basic classical technical sciences of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and information technologies.

Why mechatronics?

Instead of the systems which are constructed on the basis of electro mechanics (with some electronics), an ever more complex mechatronic systems, the basic characteristic of which is the intertwinement of mechanical components, electronic particles, and information technologies, are reaching the market. For this reason, almost none of the state-of-the-art productions are operating without the aid of electronic control systems and automated lines. Especially due to these trends, mechatronics is considered a new way of thinking in the designing of products and systems that enable the integration of precise mechanics, electronics, automated control, and informatics in the basic planning process, instead of searching for engineering solutions for each demand, separately.

Professions in the field of mechatronics

Professions in the field of mechatronics are the state-of-the-art professions which have, due to the increasing automation of production processes, started to appear in the industrially-developed countries in recent times. Competent and qualified staff from the field of mechatronics is searched for intensively in the economy. According to the level of complexity, these are divided into three basic groups:

  • Mechatronic operatorsare managing process devices, control their operations, perform smaller maintenance work, and serve them.
  • Administrators of process devices mechatronics who manage the operation of process systems, diagnose errors, repair process lines and devices, as well as maintain and archive software, together with the documentation for the maintenance of the process system.
  • Mechatronics of process technologies are dealing particularly with the planning and installation of lines and devices, with the optimisation of the production, and the adjustment of process lines and devices to the needs of a specific company.
